-Displays and Centerpieces
We had a great team of judges, most of whom did not have any entries for the fair. A couple of the judges had a minimum number of entries and, of course, they did not judge those categories.
Each project was judged by two individual judges and the projects with the three highest points in each category were awarded the rosettes - Grand Champion (highest number of points) - Reserve Champion (second highest in points) - Best of Class (third highest in points). The rosettes were a creation of yours truly and with many thanks to Rosemary Krumrei who made great buttons, with pictures of three of the FTF event pieces, that were affixed to the center of each rosette.
As the county fair guidelines stated, there had to be at least 3 entries in each category or class and if there were less than 3, they would be put into the MIscellaneous category. Since there were only 2 entries in Woodworking (both from Kathy Head), that category was moved in with Miscellaneous; and because Displays and Centerpieces had 30 entries, we separated that category into 2 separate categories.
Each participant was randomly given an Exhibitor # which was how the project was identified - no one's name appeared on the project. Unfortunately, because there were no names on the projects, it was difficult for everyone coming in to see the wonderful projects to see or know who won the rosettes. So, our top three winners in each category were as follows (I apologize in advance for incorrect spellings):
Displays:
Centerpieces:
Textiles:
Arts and Crafts:
Food:
Photography:
Creative Writing:
Animals:
Miscellaneous (Other):
Many mousers commented that it really felt like they were at a county fair which is what we were hoping for. We have many many talented collectors! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED AND SPENT MANY HOURS GETTING READY FOR THE FAIR AND A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE ROSETTE WINNERS. Looking forward to next year's FTF.....
The FTF County Fair was an overwhelming success with 42 participants exhibiting 186 entries! We weren't quite sure how many exhibitors we would have, but mousers from all over the U.S. came in with entries that showcased all the talents they possess. There were nine different categories (or classes) for participants to enter:
-Textiles (sewing, embroidery, quilting, knitting, etc)
-Arts and Crafts
-Woodworking
-Food (food preparation and food preservation)
-Photography
-Creative Writing
-Animals
