General Discussion / St. Patrick's Day mice

Since St. Patrick's Day is coming up, let's talk about St. Patty's mice.

What are your favorite pieces and why?

The forum is easy to use, I will keep trying to encourage collectors to come here.  I've not been very successful so far though.   I think they just don't want to bother with logging into another place on the internet when everybody is on Facebook, no matter what downsides there are to it.
What I haven't been liking about Facebook is if I do something like research something health related, then I go on Facebook to connect with other collectors and I have to scroll through ads that have to do with what I was researching.  Can you explain why this happens?  Do Facebook and google work together somehow?

I feel the same way.  If there is nothing noticeably wrong with it, it's as good as new.

Suddenly another Jack in the Box has showed up on ebay.  It says it's new, while the last one says it was pre-owned.

A question I have is how do you ever know if a wee forest folk is brand new?  I usually don't pay attention to this in descriptions because wouldn't it be easy to just put a pre owned piece with no defects back in a bag and put it in a box and call it new?

I had to look up Good Knight Mouse as I hadn't seen that one before, Willy made a good character out of that mouse. It would be a good piece to remake.

As for modern wee forest folk, some of them are Octo-Pal, Wee Water Bugs and Starfish Squeal.  I don't know why but I just wasn't fond of the sea creatures with faces.  And Toasty Turkey.  Just a little bit too funny looking.

Nice to meet you Geoff!  Up until now, I thought perhaps you were just a tech savvy person who was friends of Nancy and did the website work for her.  Now I know you are a collector as well. I've been posting links to some of my topics on here on Facebook in hopes that others will come.  I'm not too fond of Facebook.  I visited the factory to pick up a mouse last year while passing through the area, and I was surprised because I expected I'd be entering a gift shop like place, but instead it seemed more like somebody's home. You have put a lot of work into the master list and this website, thank you.

While I appreciate all wee forest folk and believe each and every one is special in its own way, there are some I'm not tempted to add to my collection.

One of them that comes to mind is an early piece, the wolf and red riding hood.  Mrs. Peterson did a good job of making that wolf frightening!

That's quite a collection!  I am getting overwhelmed with storing my mice with the amount I have. I keep them on a soft cloth in a dresser.  I have a drawer for each season, and a drawer for miscellaneous mice.  I also keep the boxes for each mice and they take up a lot of room.

I didn't purchase it.  I thought about it, but decided not to.  Perhaps if one shows up somewhere I will think about it again.

The Black Friday free jack in the box miniature sold for $643.

I never really counted before and had to go look.  I'd estimate about 150 mice and 20 or so tiny accessory pieces. I usually display just a couple on little tables throughout the house, a few in the curio cabinet and some in the china cabinet. How about you?

No, I've never been to any expos.  Any wee forest gatherings I found were too far away for me to attend.  I had wanted to go to a factory tour but then covid happened and they were stopped.  I don't know if they are doing tours again.  I saw the magician piece.  I don't think anybody will pay that much for it but I could be wrong! To be honest, the expo pieces usually aren't my favorite.  They are a little fancy for me.  I do like the new "Spring Surprises" WFFCC piece though.

I asked the factory and they said "It's hard to say but it's probably M-180 April Showers."
I never would have guessed. I really didn't even know where to begin when it came to guessing.

I purchase them from the club market place and trading post as well when I can.  I buy from the factory when they do their specials, and fairy tales for the mice only available through retailers.  Ebay only if I can't get it from the market place or trading post.

It went through.  I didn't know Hallmark ever sold wee forest folk so I had thought you meant you had seen them at a store nearby a Hallmark.
