Questions / Mini "Gift with Purchase" Pieces
« Latest by carolcaslow on April 27, 2021, 07:16:29 AM »
Hi - anyone know where I can find a list of numbers for these pieces? Some of mine have numbered stickers on the little box, but others don't. are they in the Master List? If so, how do I find them, since they don't really seem to have names...

Thanks for any help - Carol

Questions / Re: For Sale by Collectors

You (and anyone else on the forum) are always welcome to tap me for questions, especially if it's a how-to question about a Club service. Questions help me refine the various services available to the collector community.

I agree that the Marketplace is geared towards selling individual pieces that are listed in the Master List. It's not made to sell anything not on the Master List, e.g., collections. I have toyed with the idea of creating a marketplace for items that fall outside the Master List, but it seems other people are setting up Facebook groups to sell such items, so I have put the creation of such a marketplace on the back burner. Frankly, I'm relieved: It would entail a lot of work.

Facebook is actually poorly suited for selling stuff, but if people feel it's adequate, then I'm glad people have somewhere to go. The Club Forum used to have a Marketplace bulletin board, which could accommodate collections and such, and it was better organized than Facebook, but so few people used it that I discontinued it when the Marketplace went public. I'd be willing to resurrect it if there were sufficient interest.

Geoff, I respectfully disagree with you that the market place is better organized. It was much easier just to reach out to prospective interested buyers and send them lists if requested, especially if you have hundreds of retired mice, some of them very rare. It is especially difficult to try to sell possible groups or the complete collection...which I know is unlikely, but always a possibility. I know Ebay is an option, but the collectors club is specifically focused to those knowledgeable about the WFF. Thank you for your willingness to assist!, Laura

You're welcome...although I suspect you'll get more interest starting at $2000.

Thanks!  That puts things in perspective a bit.   I'll list it in eBay today at 10K and see if there's any interest.  Thanks so much for your help.

Try doing a Search on the Master List using keywords 'fence' and 'mouse'.

Good question, although rather hard to answer accurately since not every WFF auction was recorded. But I can say that a Town Crier with green coat sold for $15,500 on eBay in 2010. A couple of Beauty and the Beasts were asking $11,000 and $12,000, but it's unknown if they actually sold for those prices. Then there's a long line of Asks until another Sold shows up for..a Tut mouse pair! Sold for $5352.51 in 2008, but keep in mind that was around the height of WFF mania. Secondary prices have declined significantly since then.

Thanks.  That explains why I couldn't find any info on line.  So that begs the question:  what's the highest price paid for a WFF at auction?

Lucky you! Unfortunately, no one knows what price to ask, and if they tell you they do, I wouldn't believe them!

Tut mice, like a few other rarities, come up so infrequently that there is no good measure of their worth. Your best bet is an auction on eBay or wherever. I have no doubt a Tut mouse will garner the attention it deserves.

The Forum's For Sale by Collectors board has been deprecated and replaced by the Marketplace, which is much better organized and patterned after the CheckList(s).

If you're having difficulty posting pieces on the Marketplace, please feel free to contact me: wff_collector@yahoo.com
I'll be happy to walk you through the process.
